My story

At 15 years old I discovered the H4N recorder. I used it like an old 4-track, building songs with multiple vocals, guitars, bass, piano, and drums, trying to multi-task and cram as much as possible into each track. This was my sandbox. Building songs.
I had no technical inclination whatsoever to learn software - I was only interested in the pure art of building arrangements.

Fast forward to college, I decide to drop out after 3 semesters of mounting student debt and feeling completely inadequate in recording school. I had no idea where to start. I just came from a state-of-the-art, million-dollar studio, but didn't know how to properly record at home.
I spent the next 5 years following along to YouTube tutorials, working alongside friends and producers, asking questions to anyone who would answer, or be kind enough to walk me through their sessions. I secretly recorded multiple albums of what I thought to be awfully-produced music, until one day someone asked me "Hey, would you produce for me?" I was not ready to even consider this, because I hadn't met my own standard of production. But I needed income, so I took the work. 6 clients later, I thought "Why don't I trust myself with my own music?"

So I took it upon myself to record Rivers, my first real public release.

I had reached the other side of this realization, gaining confidence, and was starting to turn my fear of left-brain technical activities into a creative tool. After all these years, I've made it a personal mission to help artists save themselves from years of pain going through the circuitous process of learning DIY production. I hope you can gain the confidence to record your own music, and in the process gain a marketable skill to earn more money through music.

At age 15, I stumbled upon the H4N recorder, layering songs with various instruments, drawn to creating arrangements rather than mastering software. Dropping out of college due to mounting debt and feelings of inadequacy as a recording student, I began a 5-year journey, self-teaching through YouTube and friends in the industry. Despite secretly producing several albums-worth of music, my confidence wavered until a request to produce a fellow artist sparked my career. 6 clients later, I fought my self-doubt and recorded Rivers, gaining confidence and marrying technical skills with creativity. Now, I strive to guide artists in efficient DIY production to confidently create music and develop a valuable, income-generating skill.

What I Teach

Songwriting

Songwriting is one of the greatest outlets for processing the world around us. Everyone can learn to write a song, as well as sing and play an instrument. Though I love making the process accessible to anyone, including those who don't wish to learn an instrument. Free songwriting tools, exercises, and demos coming soon!

DIY Production

We all know at this point that you don't need a fancy studio to record great music. But getting started, and becoming proficient at home can still be incredibly daunting. I love simplifying the process for artists, making it more creatively focused than technical, and getting artists to a point where they are creating without

Music Business/Life

Succeeding in a creative business like music often involves getting a deeper understanding of what you want. Many of us jump into this world to do more of what we love, and end up falling into the same habits and traps of a traditional work-life. I love helping musicians to direct their creative energy not just into their art, but also their life
